Pinewood Derby and Rubber-bands

Tyler had the Pinewood Derby last night. He’s such a cool kid. We let him do everything on his car but cut it out. He wanted a spoiler and spinner rims. We let him do the spoiler, but we had to explain that the spinners might slow the car down. He painted them on instead. It was a fun event for the boys. The kids did a great job on the cars. We have some fun scout leaders in our area. I’m glad I get to help with things like this (don’t quote me on that).

Our week nights we usually don’t have a Dad around. With school, scouts and hockey, Chris is very busy. I often have to put the kids to bed myself, and we all know how fun that is. Anyhow, Wednesday night was scouts and before Chris had to go, I ran to the library with Tyler for a little date. Of course he got a movie and somehow convinced me to let them watch, despite the fact if was a school night. I was suckered in. Well, Chris came home to all the kids still up and me reading my book, ignoring the two little ones playing at my feet (or stomping on them). Instead of motivating them to bed he decided to play ‘let’s hit you with a rubber band in the head’. Patch and Alexa loved it. They were fascinated that Chris could flick it so high and still hit them or me. They ran after the rubber-band like little dogs. I guess this is what happens when you stay up too late. We were all we slap happy and lovin’ it.
